Is Working From Home The Right Thing For You?

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself before starting your work at home endeavor:Can you commit to the company’s goals?Let’s say you work for a real estate firm and they have a construction deadline to meet or it will throw the entire project behind schedule. You have a task to get out the door in 1 week but you decide to do other things in anticipation that you can get it done at the last minute without impacting the project. If you think like this, you won’t last long being an at home employee. Can you manage your time efficiently? Some people dilly dally at points when they should be working. This is why being in a structure environment is better for most people. They are less likely to waste time if they are around other people. Can you lead? To work from home you have to be able to take charge of things and situations. Many employees do not have the wherewithal to tell people what to do and when to do it. Being at home, you may have to take the lead on many things.Do you like change? This is the biggest one of them all. Many employees, depending on age, are set in there ways of how the do a job. If you are going to work from home then you will have to learn to adapt to new things. More than likely, you would have to adapt more, technologically. Are you a good communicator?Just like in any relationship, communication is key. To be a good employee that is able to work from home, then you have to be able to communicate effectively. And this means being very clear. Many jobs are not that difficult where you have to ask clarifying questions but you want to be clear on what it is the goal is and you and the employer work towards that goal.In the end, I’m sure you want something simple that you can paid what you are worth. Most people they except their salaries and let the employer dictate to them what they will make. Even though that is comfortable, many employees would like to get paid more if they work harder for that day. There are many companies out there that utilize a CPA (Cost Per Action) pay grid. This means if you get people to take some sort of action, i.e. putting their name and email in the box provided, then you get paid.
